Family Protection

You are not totally free to decide who should benefit from your estate. The Testamentary Family Maintenance provisions under the Succession Act 1981 impose limits on your right to dispose of your assets. It is advisable to discuss your will with us. There have been further changes to the Succession Act as a result of amendments to the Property Law Act regarding de facto relationships.

Failing to make a will or to comply with your normal obligations to make provision for your family can result in severe hardship for those you hold most dear. It will almost always involve them in destructive family squabbles and possibly, even expensive Court action.
